Nestled beneath Lion’s Head and surrounded by ocean views, the President Hotel, Cape Town, and their executive chef, invites food and wine lovers alike to indulge in a culinary experience with a five-course dinner passionately paired with Diemersdal Wine on 30 May from 19:00.
With a wine selection that dates back to 1968 where the lush landmark blends the old and new worlds of winemaking, the chef’s menu aims to match each dish with complimenting flavour profiles.
To start the evening off, guests can clink a glass of the crisp Sauvignon Blanc Reserve that will be received on arrival while experiencing uninterrupted sunset sea views in the sanctuary of Bantry Bay. For dinner, the menu starts by celebrating the Diemersdal Grüner Veltliner with an amuse bouche that takes the classic Bloody Mary cocktail and transforms it to foam with a salsa to accompany.
Thereafter, a fusion of flavours will be served – Japanese salmon sashimi with a touch of Peruvian heat, complimented by the MM Louw Sauvignon Blanc. A zesty, icy bite aims to cleanse the palate paired with the Estate Sauvignon Blanc, prepping the taste buds for the dish to follow. For the main, the Private Collection Red Blend will be served alongside tender springbok with spiced butternut, mushrooms, fondant potatoes, broccoli and red wine jus.
Nothing ends a meal off in winter better than a touch of heat and President Hotel diners will be warmly satisfied with a spiced fruit terrine and vanilla foam, tippled off with the NLH Sauvignon Blanc.
Guests can delight in the fused, fragrant flavours of the menu and wines with live music setting a tranquil tone, all for R450pp.
