At Rick’s Cafe Americain, lunch is not an afterthought. It is a rotating line-up of daily specials that keeps things interesting without making you think too hard about it.
Most dishes sit at R125, available from 12:00 to 15:00, with each day bringing something different to the table.

All-day 2-for-1 burger special across the full burger menu.
Tuesday – Comfort & Steak Night
- Lunch feature: Cape Malay Beef Bobotie served with yellow rice and homemade chutney.
- Evening: Steak Night, where every steak comes with a complimentary carafe of Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir (unwooded) plus their signature Madagascar green pepper sauce.
Wednesday – Chicken & Margaritas
- Lunch feature: Pan-fried chicken breast à la limone with roasted veg and mash.
- Drinks: 2 margaritas for R100 (made with El Jimador Tequila), available all day.
Thursday – Churrasco Fix
Chicken churrasco served with chimichurri and roasted potatoes.
Friday – Classic Fish & Chips
Fresh hake in a buttermilk batter, served with fries and tartar sauce.
Saturday – Italian Comfort
Spaghetti Bolognese with a mixed side salad.
Sunday – Traditional Roast
Slow-roasted leg of lamb with Moroccan spices, roast potatoes, vegetables, and a rich port jus (R185).
There is also a bit happening around it. Happy hour runs daily from 15:00 to 18:00 and again late evening from 22:00, and weekends bring live jazz at Rick’s Bar, which can easily turn a quick lunch into a longer stay. Good portions, reliable flavours, and a different reason to show up each day. Pick your day, or work through the week. Either way, lunch is sorted.
