Spring Activities you don’t want to miss at Boschendal Wine Estate

Established in 1685, Boschendal Wine Estate breathes in the sheer magnificence of the mass of its lands and surrounding valleys and exhales exceptional farm living and rich history. Experience the beautiful accommodations, mountain bike trails, horse riding, farm tours, picnics, culinary delights and of course, wine.

Spring is the time to explore Boschendal with these activities and upcoming events:

The Friday Night Market

Boschendal’s Friday Night Market from 6-9pm offers new stalls, new food offerings, and additional family-fun activities, fresh oysters and local live music, plus Boschendal’s signature selection of farm-fresh produce and artisanal crafts and products from likeminded suppliers are available for purchase on the night. Boschendal’s Deli has been refreshed and reopened with a new menu.  Children are entertained at the Tree House with storytelling, stargazing, and an outdoor cinema with bottomless popcorn.  Children ages 4 to 14 are welcome and the cost is R100 per child.

Seasonal Picnics

Picnics are served in two beautiful areas within the farm:

The Rhone Rose Garden and also near the Werf.  During the week a seated area is available for serving and enjoying the picnic baskets.  The Werf Farm Picnic is a more relaxed affair and guests are welcome to bring their own blankets, chairs and tables. Only naturally grown produce from the estate, as well as locally artisanal goods, are used in seasonal picnic baskets thus menus change depending on availability.

For the month of September there is a Picnic Special on offer:  book a Werf Farm Picnic for 4+ people and receive a complimentary bottle of Boschendal Chardonnay Pinot Noir.

Wine-tasting:  Redesigned

Visitors now have the option to have three different encounters with the estate’s wine:

At the Cellar Door Wine Tasting Centre, on long tables under the oak trees in front of the Werf Restaurant, and premier wine tastings and pairing at the Manor House.  Guests especially enjoy the ‘Boule and Bubbly’ tasting where they can sip on Boschendal’s MCCs while playing the traditional French game of Boule.

A new tasting is now at The Werf Restaurant – a farm plate menu to accompany the tastings. The Manor House is home to the premier wine tasting, where guests have signature experiences presented from a private room and a Historic Tasting of 5 wines and a Connoisseur Tasting of 5 limited release wines.

Concerts on the Lawn

The summer concerts will begin on 26 November.  Follow updates on the website for more information.
