Experience exotic new flavours at Cape Town’s latest foodie hotspot, SHEGO. Offering authentic Middle Eastern cuisine at its most delectable, SHEGO recently opened at the Cape Royale Hotel on trendy Main Road in Green Point.

Bringing Middle Eastern cuisine to Cape Town

Start your taste tour of the south-east of Turkey with baba ghanoush (roasted, mashed eggplant), muhammara (spicy tomato paste), kibbeh (mince lamb coated in bulgar wheat and fried), hummus and the best falafel in town. Mezze platters are served with traditional flat bread, freshly baked at SHEGO.

For mains, choose from a variety of Middle Eastern dishes, such as Maqlube (lamb cubes cooked with spiced rice and layered with fried aubergine). Traditional Turkish ravioli, Manti, is also on offer (mini beef-filled pasta pockets freshly made on site and topped with a minty yoghurt sauce and chilli oil).

The house speciality is Lahmacun (crispy flatbread cooked with a spicy mince and served with fresh greens and a squeeze of lemon). Tender beef, chicken and lamb kebabs are grilled to order.

The appetising selection of salads include a pomegranate and pistachio salad with an orange dressing; goats’ cheese fattoush salad and a walnut and tomato salad. For those who prefer a traditional twist, the Middle Eastern bulgar wheat tabouleh salad is also on offer.

Sweets include baklava; sweet pumpkin with fresh cream; a vanilla custard treat layered with biscuits and semolina halva (semolina cooked in milk and honey and served with ice-cream).

After your feast, you’ll be forgiven for wanting to linger longer. Expecially when you are welcome to lounge in the outside courtyard and enjoy a shisha, a traditional Middle Eastern water pipe. The perfect end to a memorable meal.
