SA Cocktail Week launches at Cape Quarter

Taste your way through local cocktail culture

The Second annual SA Cocktail Week is upon us and this time around, they’ve partnered with five of the biggest brand houses in the country to bring you Cape Town’s first ever street cocktail festival!

With over 20 brands and 10 of The Mother’s City’s finest cocktail venues coming together to transform Jarvis Street (behind the Cape Quarter) into a one-night-only showcase of how you should be drinking better, and not more, this festival is NOT TO BE MISSED!

The week-long festival will kick off with The Grand Opening on Saturday, 4 November 2017, from 4:30pm to 10:30pm. The evening will include over 20 pop-up bars, tons of interactive cocktail activities and have only the best in local DJs to keep you on your feet all night.

Line your stomach with delicious burgers, pizza, pasta, sushi and so much more available from the Cape Quarter! Taste your way through mini-versions of premium cocktail bars such as Arcade, Café Caprice, HQ, The Twankey Bar and Harringtons Cocktail Lounge, who are also some of the official SACW venues for this year.

The likes of Asoka, Orphanage Cocktail Emporium, Cause & Effect, Primal Eatery and Burger & Lobster will ensure they have their top mixologist whipping up spectacular signature cocktails made with their partner spirits. Brands such as Bacardi, Jim Beam Bourbon, Absolut Vodka, Tanqueray 10 and Monkey Shoulder will be sending taste buds on a tantalizing journey and educating people with affordable taste-drinks from each pop-up bar ranging between R15 and R30.

To keep cocktail lovers on their toes, they’ll be encouraged to vote for their favourites in various categories throughout the night which will result in the SA Cocktail Week Awards. A theme that supports sustainability and refuse-the-straw campaign can be expected with no straws being served on the evening.

For the remainder of the week, ticket holders are encouraged to visit as many of the 10 partner venues as possible, using their SACW wrist band to attend SA Cocktail Week feature events and redeem their 50% off signature cocktails, designed specifically for the week, and available only to people with a valid wrist band (which will be handed out in exchange for tickets at The Grand Opening). To celebrate the first event of its’ kind, SA Cocktail Week has partnered with Machangulo Beach lodge to send one lucky duo to an all-inclusive 4-night getaway at the luxury lodge in Mozambique, all ticket holders will automatically be entered into the draw, which will take place at The Grand Opening.

Guests are encouraged to get their tickets early to avoid disappointment and also save big! A percentage of all proceeds will aid the Hidden Falls foundation which uses outdoor and group activity to empower youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. For more information and to stay up to date with event developments, people are encouraged to follow SA Cocktail Week on social media.
