What is happening at Liberté Bistro for Restaurant Week?
Something delicious is coming to Johannesburg as Restaurant Week South Africa runs from 25 September to 1 November 2026, bringing exclusive menus to more than 200 of South Africa’s most exciting restaurants.
The campaign offers two-course lunches from R195 and three-course dinners from R295, making it a chance to discover somewhere new, revisit an old favourite or finally try a restaurant that has been on the list.
- At Liberté Bistro in Craighall, the three-course experience is priced at R445 per person and comes with a particularly French touch from the moment guests arrive: a complimentary Mimosa or French Martini. The Restaurant Week menu is available Monday to Sunday for both lunch and dinner, with guests choosing a starter, a main course served with two sides, and dessert. Book your table now!
Starters range from the sweet and savoury Roquefort, Pear & Honey Crostini to Zucchini & Halloumi Skewers with basil and lemon dressing and zucchini ribbons. There is also Salt & Pepper Squid with garlic and lemon mayo, Carrot Soup with vegetable broth, cream and butter, or Wild Oysters, served as three fresh oysters with mignonette.
The main course selection has plenty of classic bistro appeal. Chicken Breast in Dijon Cream Sauce combines mustard, cream and white wine, while Sole Meunière is served with lemon, butter and green beans. Moules in Frites brings mussels with white wine sauce, cream and fresh bread, while Steak Frites keeps things satisfyingly traditional with herbed butter and classic fries.
Seafood lovers can also choose Kingklip Sauce Vierge, with tomato, basil, olive oil and lemon. Vegetarian options include Portobello Linguine with cream, thyme and white wine, Gnocchi au Roquefort with blue cheese sauce and herbs, or Mushroom Bourguignon with red wine, carrots and potatoes.
There is also Steak au Poivre, with the menu listing Cognac cream sauce, or Vadouvan Chicken Curry, described as a French-style aromatic curry.
Every main course comes with a choice of two sides, including green beans, black rice, braised peas and lettuce, bistro salad, spicy ratatouille, pommes frites and fresh bread.
Dessert keeps the French-inspired theme going, with Belgian Chocolate Fondant served with vanilla ice cream, Meringue with Crème Pâtissière & Raspberry Coulis, featuring almond and coconut meringue, custard and raspberry, or classic Crème Brûlée with vanilla custard and burnt sugar topping.
Liberté Bistro describes itself as “The Little Bistro With The Big Heart”, with its Craighall setting offering a relaxed yet refined French-inspired dining experience. Its story centres on French food and wine, connection and a beautifully curated space showcasing local and French wines.
For Restaurant Week, that combination comes together in a menu that covers everything from oysters and mussels to steak frites, gnocchi, chocolate fondant and crème brûlée, all for R445 per person, with a welcome drink included.
