“Hi, we’d like to invite you to the Ron Zacapa launch!” “Ron Za-who-ha?” “Ron Zacapa!” “Oh, ok cool, I love clothes!” “No, no no… It’s a type of rum.” “Lies” “It’s from Guatemala” “Lies.” “Just come to the launch” “Mkay” I toddled into Kloof Street House with zero expectation. I read that it was a…
There is great culinary and hospitality excitement on its way for both locals and internationals alike, as the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg opens its doors at the end of the year. Not satisfied with the usual one or two dining options, The Westcliff is offering five. Flames Open for all day, casual, unpretentious…
I’m very lucky. I get to eat things and talk about them so I often tell you guys about a new wine or sauce or chocolate or something that was nice. But for the first time in a long while I’ve been COMPLETELY blown away by a product review and the incredible service on offer….
One of my favourite ways to spend a Saturday morning is to visit the Neighbourgoods Market in Braamfontein. Recently though, we arrived late and found it was too crowded, so we stepped onto de Beer Street, keen to try something new – and we stumbled upon Daleah’s Eatery. Despite its small size, Daleah’s manages to…
We love the League of Beers. Not like. Not really admire. We love them. And after you see the next event they’re having at Wolves Café – you’re going to love them, too. To celebrate the Jozi Craft Beer festival, they’re having a pre-tasting event at Wolves Café on 9 May. For just R265 per…
If you know me at all, you’d know I don’t have a sweet tooth at all. And I love an excuse to be judgey. So when I was asked to be a judge (yes man!) at a NoMU baking competition (no man!) I was a little torn. But my love of being judgey was way…
So, the other day Kamini Pather, 2013 winner of Masterchef SA, saw Gordon Ramsay ask who wanted a Christmas message on Twitter. She then replied to him and included me (KayliVee) in the tweet – saying that when we met him together earlier this year, it was practically the best day ever and a Christmas message…
To Checkers, having an extensive range of affordable, quality wines just wasn’t enough. To complete their offering, which they lovingly call their “Wine Route”, they’ve added an extensive organic range. Making our Wine Route better isn’t just about finding the best wines at the best prices, it’s also about finding wines that have helped change…

For a while I’ve wondered why NoMU don’t have olive oil – such a kitchen essential – in their range. And voila, now they do. With a nifty flip lid, this beautiful bottle of oil looks very pretty on my counter. Sourced from the award-winning De Rustica Olive Estate in the Cape Swartberg mountains, the…
Last week we told you all about the concept of The Entertainer and mentioned that they were launching an app! Well, the app has been launched and it is amazing. So amazing that I am going to bullet-point it for maximum effect. The Entertainer App: Gives you free incentive offereings in November & December, so…
Indulgence Café is a fun, funky, quirky Northcliff eatery open 6 days a week, serving awesome breakfasts, super salads and delicious burgers. Indulgence is a “work in progress” and evolves constantly. They aren’t afraid of change so they love to mix up the menu. Their décor is a bright arty eclectic mix – the perfect…
There are certain combinations in life that you just can’t go wrong with. Chicken and mushroom. Prawn and peri-peri. Steak, egg and chips. Vodka and lime. Oops, that one just slipped out. And another great combo goes something like this… Tantalising Tart. This is a rework of a dish that my mom used to make…
“You need to write recipes for Mediterranean Deli?” “Yup”, I replied. “So, you have to make up a new kind of Humus?” “They don’t just make humus!” “Yes they do! Are you going to use humus?” “I dunno yet.” “I like eating it with a spoon.” “Gosh, you’re helpful.” I’ve been itching to get my…
There is nothing quite like a Beef Wellington. Nothing. Perfect, golden pastry, succulent, pink fillet and delicious, rich gravy. Beef Wellington is a gift from *insert who ever you believe in here*. I invited a gang over for dinner to make some of this amazingness for them but I was a tad nervous as I’d…
I don’t trust people who don’t like avocado. I mean, what is there about them not to absolutely love? Avo season is literally one of my favourite times of the year as I can eat these orbs of goodness with joyous abandon. So when I was asked by ZZ2 to create an avocado-based recipe for…
I’m a Cape Town kinda gal. I like the laid back mentality, I like that I don’t need to drive for hours to get to where I want (except for Constantia, but who goes there?), I like The Mountain, the sea, the general prettiness. Joburg’s this elusive beast I tentatively visit for at most a…
