Hear the real Stories behind a 14,900 km African Adventure at Bike Forge

Some road trips end with a few photographs and a story about a wrong turn.

The journey being shared at Bike Forge on Sunday, 2 August 2026 comes with 14,900 kilometres of African roads, serious challenges and enough memories to fill far more than one afternoon.

Starting at 12:00, the live talk brings Alan, Riaan and Yvette together to share the story behind their epic ride across Africa to Mount Kilimanjaro and back.

  • Guests will hear directly from the team about the routes they travelled, the unforgettable places they encountered and the moments that tested their patience, resilience and sense of humour.

The talk promises an honest look behind the adventure, including the practical challenges that rarely make it into the polished highlights. Expect stories of difficult roads, unexpected encounters, small victories and the kind of lessons that only arrive after thousands of kilometres in the saddle.

There will also be plenty of lighter moments as the team recalls the laughs, friendships and memories that made the journey so rewarding. It is an afternoon designed for riders, travellers, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys a good story told by the people who actually lived it.

Guests can settle in at Bike Forge, order something delicious from the kitchen and enjoy drinks while listening to a truly memorable African adventure. The relaxed setting at De Heuvel Estate makes it easy to turn the talk into a leisurely Sunday outing with friends or family. The journey may be over, but at Bike Forge, the best stories are only just getting started.
