Fondue at I Love My Laundry

There are things in life that I often wish I did more, and often tend to forget that I don’t. For example: “yeah, I am really in to climbing Lion’s Head“ or “Flip, I love playing board-games” and last but certainly not least, “I am a real big fan of fondue”. In actual fact I’ve been up The Lion once, play board-games next to never, and haven’t had fondue since I was 11. ‘Til last week.

While they can just do your laundry, it is very hard to turn down the snacks and/or food and/or drinks they have on offer. They do Dim Sum daily, but on Thursday evenings it is all about good ol’ fashioned fondue.

For just R125 per person you can expect all you can eat fondue and a generous helping of wine. Set on the beautiful table are fondue pots, each filled with one of the three bases: consommé, three cheese and chocolate. There is also a mix ‘n match of things you cook and dip as the night goes on. We had:

Rump, fillet, mushrooms, peppers, baby potatoes, bread chunks, two types of marshmellow, apple, banana and oranges. You’re meant to have fun and just try anything, so whether you cook your fillet in consommé, cheese or chocolate (oh yeah, it happened) – anything goes.

The restaurant can fit 14 people at each event and you really do need to book in ADVANCE. Whether you book for 2 or 15, you are bound to have the best time. We didn’t know the others at the table, but the bonding you do over this sort of eating and sharing, is sure to leave you with new friends.
