Meet the Experts
Your hosts for the evening, Stephan and Janine Schoombie, are no ordinary individuals. Stefan, with a background in marine biology and a passion for albatrosses and petrels, has embarked on multiple overwintering expeditions to Marion Island. He’s a pioneer in the field, having used bird-borne cameras for seabird behavioral studies.
Janine, a powerhouse in aeronautical engineering, brings her expertise in fluid dynamics and ecological wind patterns on Marion Island. Her background in scientific writing and aerodynamics positions her as a formidable force in both engineering and scientific communities.
