Enjoy a Long Easter Weekend with The Table Bay

Make the most of the long weekend and enjoy a mini-break

Gather the family for a joyous Easter celebration at Cape Town’s best address, The Table Bay hotel in the V&A Waterfront, where the cheffing team will serve the best locally-inspired cuisine in elegant surroundings.

Take your seat in the luxurious five-star hotel’s Atlantic Restaurant, which offers stunning views of the working harbour and world-famous Table Mountain, and get ready to be served a traditional lunch.

Executive sous chef Wesli Jacobs said the menu had an “African Cape Malay theme” with lots of seafood dishes in keeping with the holiday.

“The menu is designed for locals as well as our international guests to enjoy, and showcases what The Table Bay is all about – the best of the best of local cuisine,” Jacobs said. “As The Table Bay marks our 25th year in business in 2022, we will be looking back at some of the dishes enjoyed over the years – of course something delicious and as well-loved like pickled fish never goes out of fashion.”

Bread served to the table will be homemade by the in-house pastry chefs, and include mossbolletjie and fresh poppadoms.

Starters include a salad selection plus curried three bean and potato salads, as well as the traditional Easter dish of pickled fish served with hot cross buns. The main course selection includes Akhni biryani, grilled calamari with spicy tomato sauce, beef short rib and a South African lamb stew known as Denningvleis, one of the country’s oldest known recipes.

“The meal would not be complete without a Cape Malay chicken curry and a lentil dahl with roti, but we also have less spicy options,” Jacobs said. This includes saffron mussels and sides such as grilled lettuce stuffed with roasted mix nut and citrus cream cheese and gem squash.

“Served straight from the braai will be delicious and sustainably-caught whole line fish, served with lemon garlic butter.”

While the whole Masala lamb on the carvery provides an action station for the adults, the children can get their thrills from desserts, chocolate and mint fridge tart, Amarula milk tart, boeber and naartjie crème brule, and malva pudding with buttermilk sauce.

The menu is priced at R695 per person, and half price for children under the age of 12.

Booking for lunch, served from 1pm to 4pm, is essential at tablebaydining@suninternational.com or 021 406 5988.

Easter Themed High Tea
