The latest health craze is hitting CTFM just in time for summer!
You’ve probably seen poke bowls on social media, overheard the buzz, or seen them on menus IRL. (Psst … it’s pronounced “POH-keh.”). In Cape Town, poke shops are popping up faster than ever… so what is this food trend, anyway — and what’s the appeal?
Poke means “to slice or cut” in Hawaiian and refers to chunks of raw, marinated fish — usually tuna — which is then tossed over rice and topped with vegetables and umami-packed sauces. It’s the next generation of sushi..in a bowl.
Until the 18th of February, two poke bowls will be on promotion at CTFM.
Mixed Poke Bowl – R99
Salmon, tuna, bean curd, prawn, avocado, sesame seeds, seven spice and rice, served with spicy mayo and a sweet soy sauce.
Tuna Poke Bowl – R92
Tuna, cucumber, radish, avocado. Dried seaweed, edamame beans, sesame seeds, caviar and rice, served with spicy mayo and a sweet soy sauce.
Will you try it?
