Benguela Cove Wine Estate announces its Winemakers’ Dinner, taking place on Saturday, 6 June 2026, at the Moody Lagoon Restaurant.
Cellar Master and award-winning winemaker Johann Fourie hosts the evening, presenting four of Benguela Cove’s premier red wines paired with four seasonal winter courses.
The event is strictly limited to 40 guests.
- The evening opens at 18:30 with a glass of Benguela Cove Cap Classique and concludes at 22:00. Guests move through four paired courses, each introduced by Fourie, who shares the vintage background, terroir context, and the specific winemaking decisions behind every bottle. A Noble Late Harvest accompanies dessert to round off the experience. Tickets are priced at R795 per person, inclusive.
A Format Built Around Access
The Winemakers’ Dinner positions Johann Fourie not merely as a presenter, but as a host. Throughout the evening, guests engage directly with the winemaker in a setting that a standard cellar door visit cannot replicate. The 40-seat cap reflects a deliberate choice to prioritise depth of experience and personal conversation over scale.
“Winter is when the estate feels most like itself,” says Fourie. “The lagoon goes dark early, the restaurant is warm, and the reds are ready. I want forty people around the table who are genuinely curious about what is in their glass, that is the entire point of the evening.”
The Moody Lagoon culinary team builds the winter menu outwards from Fourie’s wine selection. Their approach focuses on seasonal produce and dishes with enough structure to complement, rather than compete with, full-bodied Walker Bay reds.
The Moody Lagoon Restaurant sits at the heart of Benguela Cove Wine Estate, overlooking the Lagoon near Hermanus. The estate produces wines from the Walker Bay wine region, an area recognised for its cool-climate growing conditions and maritime influence.
