Harvest season at Durbanville Hills is always special, but in 2026 it becomes something far more personal.
From 18 February to 14 March, guests are invited to step into the heart of harvest with an intimate, hands-on experience that celebrates wine not just as a product, but as a journey.
The experience begins with a warm welcome and a glass of sparkling wine, setting the tone for an evening or afternoon of discovery. From the very first sip, guests are immersed in the energy of harvest, where the cellar hums with quiet excitement and fermenting tanks gently echo the work in progress.
- Guided by the Durbanville Hills team, guests move through the cellar, learning how cool-climate grapes are shaped by careful decisions and skilled hands. It’s informative without being technical, inviting curiosity rather than overwhelming it. One of the most memorable moments follows soon after: tasting grape must straight from the source. Sweet, vibrant, and mid-transformation, it offers a rare glimpse into wine’s very first chapter.
The experience then shifts from observation to participation. Around blending tables, guests are guided through the art of crafting their own red wine blend. With a selection of components before them, creativity takes over as they taste, adjust, and refine until the blend feels just right. The bottle they seal and take home becomes more than a souvenir; it’s a memory captured in glass.
This year’s harvest experience adds an unexpected interactive element woven seamlessly into the journey. It brings a playful twist to the process, reminding guests that while winemaking is rooted in craft, it’s also driven by joy. It’s a surprise best discovered in person.
The experience concludes at The Tangram at Durbanville Hills, where a beautifully prepared two-course menu awaits. Thoughtfully paired wines accompany each dish, drawing the day together in a way that feels warm, generous, and unhurried.
Taking place on selected Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, this vine-to-wine journey is limited in availability, ensuring an intimate atmosphere throughout. Priced at R550 per person, it’s an invitation to slow down, explore, and connect with wine in a way that’s both meaningful and memorable.
