Something new is arriving on the Paarl Wine Route, and it’s designed for those who believe wine tastes even better when you meet the people behind it.
On Saturday, 18 April at 6pm, Brookdale Estate will host An Evening With The Stars — an intimate seated wine experience that brings guests face-to-face with some of the region’s most celebrated winemakers.
Unlike traditional walkabout tastings, this event offers a more personal approach.
- Guests will be seated at tables of ten, where a winemaker joins the table to introduce two of their award-winning wines, each paired with a thoughtfully crafted small plate prepared by Brookdale’s Chef Gary.
Once the wines are poured and stories shared, the winemaker moves on — and another takes their place.

- 10 winemakers
- 20 award-winning wines
- 10 curated small plates
It’s a rotating experience that combines tasting, storytelling and culinary pairings in a way that keeps every course fresh and engaging.
Among the producers joining the evening are Xander and Shanice, the dynamic duo behind Brookdale’s increasingly celebrated wines. Also taking a seat at the table is Bernard Smuts, cellar master at Boland Cellar, whose decades of experience have helped shape some of the region’s most respected wines.
More producers will be revealed as the event approaches.

Set against the vineyards of Brookdale Estate in Paarl, the evening unfolds as the sun sets and the stars begin to appear overhead — creating a relaxed yet refined atmosphere that perfectly suits the experience.
