This Valentine’s Day, Hazendal Wine Estate invites couples to celebrate love with an elegant Valentine’s Day 5 course lunch & dinner at Siyalima, the estate’s flagship fine-dining restaurant.
Set against the Bottelary Hills, the experience is guided by Michelin-starred chef Phil Carmichael, whose Valentine’s menu has been designed to unfold thoughtfully, course by course.
The result is a refined celebration that balances romance, craftsmanship, and expressive flavours.
- The lunch begins with a selection of canapés, including a cured trout tartlet with cucumber and finger lime relish, finished with Aquatir beluga caviar, alongside a mushroom parfait croustade with marinated shiitake mushrooms and pickled mustard seed.
- For the starter, guests may choose between a garden carrot salad with pickled and fermented carrots, chermoula dressing, and carrot top pesto, or smoked gammon and confit chicken terrine served with garden vegetables, leek, and mustard seed vinaigrette.
- The main course offers a trio of beautifully considered options. Diners can enjoy a 32-day dry-aged Limousin beef fillet with short rib and potato boulangère, shiitake mushrooms, and bone marrow jus. Alternatively, braised Cape salmon is paired with fennel barigoule, bouillabaisse sauce, and Saldanha Bay mussels. A vegetarian option of slow-roasted cauliflower risotto brings together textures of cauliflower with walnut XO, stonehouse pecorino, and sage butter.
- A light refresher of basil and lime sorbet with a crisp polenta bricelet cleanses the palate before dessert.
- To finish, the menu concludes with strawberries and cream baked Alaska, layered with cocoa nib and strawberry crumble, and a subtle note of strawberry and pepper. Coffee is served with petit fours, including rose macarons filled with white chocolate mousse and rooibos and orange madeleines finished with miso caramel.
