Every meal at Den Anker can help make a difference this Mandela Day

This Mandela Day, Den Anker is inviting diners to do more than enjoy a memorable meal on the V&A Waterfront.

Through a partnership with the Falling Forward Foundation, the restaurant is supporting The Impilo Project, giving guests the opportunity to make a meaningful difference with a simple R67 donation added to their bill.

The campaign runs until 18 July, with every contribution going directly towards The Impilo Project’s largest-ever Mandela Day Health Day.

  • The initiative aims to provide 670 patients with free healthcare in a single day at Marconi Beam Primary School in Joe Slovo, with services ranging from doctor consultations and medical screenings to AI-powered tuberculosis screening, HIV testing and care, breast cancer screenings, women’s health services, dental care, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy support, social work assistance, and legal support for gender-based violence counselling.

Inspired by the spirit of Mandela Day’s 67 minutes of service, each R67 donation represents meaningful care for someone who needs it most. Together, these contributions help bring essential healthcare directly into communities where it can have the greatest impact.

The initiative is a reminder that creating positive change doesn’t always require grand gestures. Sometimes it starts with sharing a meal, adding a small donation, and joining a community effort that reaches far beyond the restaurant table.

Guests visiting Den Anker before 18 July are encouraged to add R67 to their bill and become part of a campaign that transforms everyday dining into an opportunity to create hope, improve lives, and honour Madiba’s legacy of service—one meal, one donation, and one act of kindness at a time.
