For those who appreciate a properly paced dinner with purpose behind every course, Blowfish Restaurant is setting the table for an evening that does exactly that.
On Tuesday, 5 May, Blowfish partners with Diemersdal Wine Estate for a curated five-course, five-wine pairing designed to be experienced, not rushed
. The approach is simple: each dish is built around the wine, not the other way around.
- The evening begins with a mussel shot—crumbed, fried, and finished with a creamy in-house sauce—before moving into a classic French onion soup topped with a baked, cheese-laden crouton. A Peruvian-style hake ceviche follows, bringing freshness and contrast, before the menu settles into a richer main: filet en croute with caramelised onions and a pomegranate demi. Dessert keeps things indulgent but balanced, with a stroopwafel cheesecake layered with coconut-caramel cream.
Behind the wines, Diemersdal brings its Durbanville character to the table. Shaped by cool Atlantic winds, the estate is known for producing wines with clarity and structure—particularly its Sauvignon Blancs, alongside a growing reputation for elegant reds.
As with Blowfish’s previous pairing evenings, the format is intentionally relaxed. The chef and cellar master guide the experience, but the pace remains unforced. It’s a full evening out, not a quick dinner slot. At R650 per person, it’s positioned for those who enjoy the detail—where each course has a reason, each pairing has intent, and the evening unfolds as it should. Book your spots now!
