Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate has introduced a weekday lunch special at its flagship Moody Lagoon Restaurant, offering guests a three-course dining experience with a glass of estate wine for R450 per person.
The special runs Monday to Thursday from 12:00 to 17:00 and gives diners a choice of starter and main, or main and dessert, accompanied by a glass from Benguela Cove’s Lighthouse Collection – Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, Syrah, or the Moody Lagoon Red Blend.
All wines are 100% estate-grown, produced, and bottled on the property. Available from 1 April – 31 August 2026.
A Kitchen Built on Seasonal, Ethical Sourcing
Executive Chef Christo Hattingh developed the lunch special to showcase the kitchen’s approach to seasonal South African cooking. Every menu changes with what’s fresh and available, sourced from ethical local traders across the Western Cape and Overberg.
“We want guests to taste where we are,” says Chef Hattingh. “The lunch special is an opportunity to experience the full kitchen at a price point that makes it genuinely accessible – whether you’re driving down from Cape Town for the day, coming in from Hermanus, or staying on the estate.“
The menu covers the range – line-caught West Coast fish, Karoo-farmed meat, vegetarian options – all complimented by picture-perfect views in a world-class setting.
A World-Class Estate, Open to All
Moody Lagoon Restaurant sits above the Bot River Lagoon at the heart of Benguela Cove, 90 minutes from Cape Town and 15 minutes from Hermanus on the R43. The estate spans 200 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, and fynbos along 2.7 km of private ocean frontage – the only wine estate in Africa with direct oceanfront access of this scale.
Benguela Cove is ranked among the World’s Best Vineyards, and Cellar Master Johann Fourie’s wines took Best Wine of Show at the 2025 Michelangelo Awards. In October 2025, the estate served as the official venue for the P20/G20 Opening Ceremony, hosting 500 international delegates across a full day of diplomatic events.
The lunch special brings that standard of setting and cooking to a weekday table – at a price point designed for locals, day-trippers, and travellers exploring the Walker Bay wine region.
Sustainability at the Core
Benguela Cove holds Travelife Gold certification for accommodation sustainability and WWF Conservation Champion status. The estate farms and cooks under the /Xam San philosophy of hannuwa – living in sustainable harmony with the land. Chef Hattingh’s sourcing decisions reflect the same principle: seasonal menus that support the regional food economy and reduce environmental impact.
Beyond the Restaurant
The lunch special sits within a broader estate experience. Guests can arrive early for a wine tasting or cellar tour, take a pontoon boat trip on the Bot River Lagoon aboard Lady Bonnie, or villa guests can walk the estate’s 12 km of trails through the vineyards and fynbos. Families benefit from Pirate Adventure Golf, a children’s Splash Pad Waterpark, and courtyard games. The estate hosts seasonal events and live music year-round.
Between June and December, southern right whales move through Walker Bay – a globally recognised whale-watching destination – and are often visible from the villas and estate grounds.
For guests who choose to extend their visit, Benguela Cove offers waterfront self-catering and fully serviced villa accommodation across 13 architect-designed estate homes and a 10-bedroom Manor House. Private chef and butler services are available on request.
