If your mom says, “I don’t want a fuss,” ignore her. What she really wants is to be spoiled—preferably with an all-you-can-eat buffet and someone else doing the dishes.
Luckily, the folks at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Cape Town have cooked up the perfect plan for Mother’s Day 2025, and it’s looking seriously tasty. [full menu]
A Feast Fit for the Queen (aka Mom)
- For just R295 per person, you can treat your mom to a lunch buffet that pulls out all the stops. We’re talking smoked fish platters, artisanal breads, olives, hummus, feta, and even peppadews (because no South African celebration is complete without them). There’s a solid spread of garden-fresh salads—think avo, almonds, cous cous, artichokes, and anchovy dressing. It’s basically a salad lover’s dream with a side of basil pesto. And yes, there’s chicken Caesar too for those who like to keep things classic.
Bring the Heat
On the hot food side (although someone should really have told them it’s “hots” not “hot’s”, but we’ll let it slide), they’re dishing up hearty comfort food: seafood potjie, chutney chicken, and a dreamy butternut & creamed spinach lasagna. There’s also cinnamon-honey carrots and za’atar spiced greens to keep things fancy.
Meat Lovers, Rejoice
Meat? They’ve got that covered too. The carvery features a peppered roast leg of lamb, mint sauce, rich gravy, and rosemary-crusted roast potatoes. If that doesn’t say “I love you, Mom,” we don’t know what does.
Save Room for Dessert (Seriously)
Dessert is not optional. Sticky toffee pudding with vanilla custard, peppermint crisp tartlets, tiramisu, and red velvet cupcakes. That’s four reasons to regret not wearing stretchy pants.
The Vibe
It all goes down on Sunday, 11 May 2025, from 12:30 to 15:30. There’s a welcome drink on arrival and the whole afternoon is about making Mom feel as special as she actually is (even if she still calls you to ask how to turn off the Wi-Fi).
Spots are limited, and moms don’t like waiting, so book your table via protea.fireandicecpt@marriott.com or snag your tickets on Quicket.
Bring the family, raise a glass, and let someone else handle the kitchen chaos for once. Mom deserves more than a card—she deserves a feast.
