#14 Wildlife at Jordan Wine Estate

Only 8 days left of lockdown and if we haven’t convinced you to come and visit Jordan Wine Estate, their animal friends will!

At Jordan, they believe in holistic farming and we have a wide range of wild animals who coexist with their farming habits.

The most famous animal would be the Cape Dwarf Chameleon. Chameleons are remarkable creatures, known mostly for their uncanny ability to adopt an entirely different hue within a matter of seconds.  The Cape Dwarf Chameleon (Bradypodion pumilum) is one of 15 currently identified dwarf chameleons that are endemic to South Africa. This specific species is found only in a limited section of the Western Cape, around Cape Town, the Boland, and the mountainous coastline as far as Agulhas.

They also have a family of Cape Foxes living in the vineyards. If you are lucky enough you can spot them playing in the early mornings and late evenings!

You can also sit on The Bakery’s deck and view a wide range of birds, from colourful hummingbirds, buzzards, cranes, or even a South African Fish Eagle patrolling his territory.

We promise that every visit to Jordan will be an unforgettable experience and will show, time and time again, why they are so Unique by Nature’s Design!

#18 Join Jordan Wine Estate on an exciting Cellar Tour

We’ve been given extra time to think about what we want to do after lockdown. Now is the time to plan and prepare your ‘out of lockdown’ bucket list.  Why not add a tour of the Jordan cellar to your list?

The cellar is pure Jordan. An elegant, yet bold fusion of Old and New World architectural ideas. State-of-the-art, practical and functional, the high-tech elements blend easily with the forces of nature. The cellar is designed around a gravity flow system using natural cooling through recessing the cellar into the slope of the mountain.

Enjoy a guided tour to experience the activities of the cellar and hopefully get a sneak peak of the winemakers in action!  Learn all about the winemaking process and what special techniques the Jordan cellar team use to consistently produce world-class wines, year after year.

If you are still looking for a reason to visit Jordan after lockdown there is no bigger reason than nature herself.

Did you know that Gary and Kathy Jordan have been making world-class wines since 1993 and that the estate has a history going back over 300 years?

Jordan is incredibly unique. We are one of the only estates that has every aspect… North, South, East and West facing vineyards and also lying at differing altitudes from 160 to 410 meters above sea level this enables us to excel in many different varietals.

As we say: Unique by nature’s design!

Make the trip up the Stellenbosch Kloof Road to see what they are all about!
