AURUM’s contemporary approach to dining fits neatly into the Restaurant Week occasion, with seasonal plates and carefully selected ingredients taking centre stage. The restaurant describes its cuisine as eclectic, with an emphasis on understanding the purpose of each ingredient and creating dishes that tell a story from seed to plate.
The starter selection offers three distinct choices. Calamari is served with salsa verde aioli, lime and roasted vegetable medley. Forbidden Fruit, a vegetarian option, combines apple sorbet, marinated cucumber and herb oil. Duck Arancini comes with broccoli and pea mousse, mint and chimichurri.
After the starter comes a sorbet, providing a refreshing pause before the main course.
For mains, the vegetarian AURUM Morogo Risotto combines kale, Gruyère, morogo and tomato. The Aged Ribeye brings together aged beef with ox tongue arancini, bone marrow and mushroom salsa. Sole Paupiette, a pescatarian option, features calamari fricassée, fennel and ginger.
Dessert provides three ways to finish the experience. The Chocolate Proposal combines almond, Madagascan chocolate, orange, raspberry and stonefruit. Parfait Ending brings together passionfruit, white chocolate, guava and macadamia, while the vegetarian Apple Textures features apple, dark chocolate, peanut butter and oat.
Set within The Leonardo, one of Africa’s iconic landmarks, AURUM offers an elegant setting for its Restaurant Week experience. At R600, the menu gives diners a structured journey through AURUM’s contemporary cuisine, from its opening bread and butter service through to a choice of dessert.
