Sushi

Their rice is made with their top secret sushi recipe and had the perfect consistency. It wasn’t too dry or too sticky, as can be the case with take-aways. They only use premium quality, sashimi grade, raw fish for all of their menu items, which translates into the brilliant freshness and high quality taste of all their sushi.

My absolute favourite of the sushi that we ordered has to be the Tiger Eye (R45 for 4pcs). It’s a prawn tempura with philadelphia cream cheese wrapped in prawn and avo; topped with mayo and sweet chilli. The crunchiness of the tempura mixed with the freshness of the cream cheese, avo and mayo made this a joy to eat!

Delivery

I’m one of those people who likes to order in, but the quality of take-away food never really matches my expections. But with Oishi Sushi, this is different. Their sushi is definitely on par with any of the great Cape Town sushi restaurant.

So why not stay at home? It’s more convenient. I don’t have to pay for overpriced drinks. And I only order what I actually want. I won’t be thinking of ordering dessert just because someone else at the table feels like something sweet. It’s a win-win.

It took just 30-40 minutes for our order to arrive. And it was a great change that I didn’t have any hassle having to explain directions.

Pricing

I compared the prices for California Rolls (4pcs), Tempura Prawns (4pcs) and Rainbow Rolls (4pcs) with other leading sushi restaurants in Cape Town. The sushi is very similarly priced – go have a look at the Oishi Sushi menu yourself. I would have thought that they would try to cover the delivery costs in their prices, but this isn’t the case at all. Several payment options are available to choose from. You can either add your credit card details when placing the order, or pay in cash or use your debit/credit card when the order has arrived.

Their sushi is absolutely wonderful; the delivery time was quick; and the value is on par with any decent sushi restaurant. So next time you feel like sushi, you don’t have to get ready to book a table at a restaurant – just eat in!
