The Measure of a Man can be seen in a Blend of his Friends

The 19th of November is International Men’s Day!

It’s a day of reflecting on everything that defined being a man, and an opportunity to explore ways to improve ourselves. 2020 has been an exceptionally challenging year for many of us, and we have had to take a long deep look at ourselves, but its also been personally enriching and cathartic.

Perhaps one of the things we need to consider is that is that if you want to see what type of man you are, take a look at the 5 people you surround yourself with. This was the view of motivational speaker Jim Rohn, who stated that we are the product of the blend of people we spend the most time with.

Now reviewing that list may leave you confused and questioning your life decisions, but at the end of it, it’s good to have a good mix of friends that support, defend, question, and challenge you. That’s the beauty of blend; it widens your perspective , makes sure you’ve thought things through, given you courage, and overall makes you a better person.

This International Men’s Day, we celebrate you, as well as the five other people in your life that make you you. And while it’s great to enjoy an award-winning Irish Whiskey on your own, we know from experience that it’s even better to share it with friends.

And while many others are enjoying the classic Old Fashioned cocktail this November, to mix things up a bit, we suggest the DEW Fashioned.

Tullamore D.E.W Fashioned

  • 50 ml Tullamore D.E.W.
  • 10 ml simple sugar syrup (1:1 water and sugar ratio)
  • 3 Dashers of Angostura Bitters
  • 60 ml Irish Stout

Method

  1. Add 50 ml Tullamore D.E.W., 10 ml of simple syrup and 3 dashes of Angostura bitters to the base of an old fashioned glass
  2. Fill the glass of ice and stir with cautious vigour
  3. Allow to settle briefly and top with Irish stout.

Tullamore D.E.W. is the second most widely consumed Irish Wiskey in the world, and number one in Ireland. Further, at this year’s 2020 International Spirit’s Challenge awards Tullamore D.E.W. was awarded 1 silver and 5 gold medals.

Tullamore D.E.W is available in all leading physical and online liquor stores countrywide at an RRP R299.95 for 750ml.
