It’s a must-do on the festive season list.
Delight in millions of lights in the Durban Botanic Gardens with the third annual Garden Trail of Lights. It’s an opportunity to give back to worthy charities and enjoy nightly entertainment.
Since its inception, the event has been focused on giving back.
This year’s worthy organisations include Trulife, The Guide Dogs Association South Africa, Feeding the Furballs, Action against Abuse, Stray Cat Carers, The Legion South Africa, SAFE Organisation KZN and SAAMBR.
Some charities will engage directly with the public at the event while others receive funds raised through vendors. For the first time Reach for a Dream will host two families at the event.
The event will open with a VIP evening on 12 December with special performances and displays to wow guests. There are only 1000 tickets available. Or you could be the lucky winner of free tickets. See competition details below.
Lighting will be provided by Magic Lighting and include themed areas such as the garden of stars, a mini Jurassic Park, romantic pathways, a butterfly sanctuary, an African village, a digital lighting experience and children’s display.
There will also be 30 food vendors offering Cuban, Mexican, Thai, South African, vegetarian food and treats for the sweet-toothed, as well as some gifts for last minute Christmas shopping.
The students are bringing the vibe this year with Glenwood’s Rock Academy and CODA in the Bluff providing entertainment. Daniel Sheldon from Beat-Route says: “A lot of our equipment has been sponsored by Sycamore Gear which has made it possible for us to extend our stage presence. It’s going to be a lot of fun!”
The Durban Botanic Garden Trail of Lights is on from 12-30 December 2019.
Early bird tickets are available from www.webtickets.co.za or Pick ‘n Pay for R50 per person from 1 October to 30 November. From 1 December tickets will cost R65 per person. There are limited tickets for R80 per person available at the door. VIP Preview Evening tickets for 12 December are R120 per person. Children under two go free.
