Bellevue Cafe

Comfy and Casual.

Chris Black and Guy Cluver have taken this once vague coffee shop and turned it into a thriving restaurant. Bellevue Café has attracted quite the following in Kloof, with its focus based on simple flavourful and fresh cooking, good service and good value.

There’s an arty feel to Bellevue Café, a modern spacious and contemporary eatery that’s consistently lively and a favourite with families and celebratory parties, as it happily caters for groups (and offer, as a breakfast item, “Miss Molly Bubbles” and a pitcher of OJ).

The large-volume space is broken into areas by screens and, curiously, trees that grow from inside the room out for an organic feel, while a blackboard lists wine specials and there are shelves of good craft beer. There is great al fresco seating too.

Breakfasts, until 11:30am are buzzing, early weekend dinners (last orders at 9pm) are very popular too or even stopping by for a quick luncheon during the week with clients, family or friends. Monday to Friday 7am until 9pm, Saturday 8:30am until 9pm, Sunday 9am until 3pm.

  1. Had lunch at the Bellevue Café, Kloof, on Wednesday 8 March 2017. As it was a blisteringly humid KZN day, two of us ordered the special Beetroot, quinoa and peach salad for R80.00. What a disappointment! I know quinoa is expensive but the few grains in the salad did not deserve a mention in the description. Add half a peach, two baby beetroot and a mass of greens and tough microgreens – SO unappetizing. The third member of our party had the chicken quiche which she pronounced underwhelming. Only the fourth member was satisfied: she had ordered a bacon and cheese toasted sarmie with chips. Well, a transport café couldn’t get that wrong!
