For Garden Route locals looking to try something a little different midweek, The Turbine Boutique Hotel and Spa in Knysna is adding a fresh twist to the dining calendar.
On 20 May 2026, Island Café will host a honey-inspired dinner in celebration of World Bee Day.
Starting at 18:30, the evening offers a thoughtfully curated three-course menu that explores honey in a balanced, creative way.
- Guests are welcomed with the “Eden Honey,” a whisky sour with a subtle honey twist, setting the tone for what follows. The first course brings together heritage beetroot and whipped goat’s labneh, finished with pistachio dukkha and citrus verbena for a light, flavourful start.
- The main course shifts into something more comforting with a honey-glazed chicken supreme. It’s paired with orange blossom glazed baby carrots, potato pave, and a honey and black garlic infused jus, combining sweetness and depth without overpowering the dish.
- Dessert keeps things simple and satisfying with a layered wild honey cake, served with toasted almonds and clotted cream.
At R395 per person, the evening offers good value for a structured dining experience that feels a little more special than the usual night out. It’s ideal for locals who want to break routine, catch up with friends, or enjoy a relaxed date night with something new on the menu.
