If Dad insists on nibbling those crisps, be sure to whip him up an avo <a href=\"https:\/\/avocado.co.za\/avocado-recipe-category\/guacamole\/\">guacamole<\/a> dip \u2013 at least he will benefit from the good <a href=\"https:\/\/avocado.co.za\/eight-reason-to-love-avos\/\">monounsaturated<\/a> fats found in avocados.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dad still hungry? The avocado makes it easy for you to make him happy. Try a few simple <a href=\"https:\/\/avocado.co.za\/avocado-recipe-category\/snacks\/\">snacks<\/a> like lightly toasted bruschetta with avo and biltong shavings or crackers with mozzarella and avo \u2013 the perfect bite-sized treats. Or how about pita triangles with <a href=\"https:\/\/avocado.co.za\/avocado-recipe\/avocado-hummus\/\">avo hummus<\/a>, topped with avo and chopped chilli for a healthy bite with a little zing?<\/p>\n<p>Our choice for dad this Father\u2019s Day is Sticky BBQ Chicken Wings with Avocado Ranch Dipping Sauce&#8230;so yum! Make sure he has loads of serviettes because we can promise there\u2019ll be no going back once he digs in.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So, no matter what you\u2019re cooking up for Dad this year, add an avo to his Father\u2019s Day snacks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For further information and avo recipes, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avocado.co.za\">www.avocado.co.za<\/a> , like them on Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/iloveavocadoSA\">@iloveavocadoSA<\/a> and follow on Instagram <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/iloveavossa\/\">@iloveavossa<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Sticky BBQ Chicken Wings with Avocado Ranch Dipping Sauce <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><em>Serves 4\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation time:<\/strong> 30 minutes + 2 hours marinating<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooking time:<\/strong> 30 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the marinade<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>24 chicken wings<\/li>\n<li>250 ml (1 cup) BBQ sauce<\/li>\n<li>30 ml (2 tbsp) Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n<li>60 ml (4 tbsp) brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>60 ml (4 tbsp) honey<\/li>\n<li>60 ml (4 tbsp) soy sauce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For the Avocado Ranch Dressing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 ripe avocado, peeled and stoned<\/li>\n<li>100 ml (about 6 tbsp) apple cider vinegar<\/li>\n<li>60 ml (4 tbsp) maple syrup or brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>100 ml (about \u00bd cup) lemon juice<\/li>\n<li>100 ml (about \u00bd cup) avocado or olive oil<\/li>\n<li>2-4 cloves garlic<\/li>\n<li>2-4 spring onions, white part only (and extra for garnish)<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Whisk BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, honey and soy sauce together in a jug.<\/li>\n<li>Place the chicken in shallow non-metallic dish and pour over the marinade. Toss to coat. Cover and marinate at least 20 minutes but preferably for 2 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Cook on a braai or in the oven at 200\u00b0C until golden and sticky about 25 &#8211; 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>While the chicken is cooking make the dressing. Place all the ingredients in the jug of a blender and whizz until smooth. Dressing can be thinned down with a little cold water if a pouring consistency is desired.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to a jar and seal until needed.<\/li>\n<li>Serve chicken wings with dressing and garnish with sliced spring onion.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-107840\" src=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/AvoBBQWings3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1150\" height=\"1723\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tired of trying to drag Dad away from the TV as he performs his weekend ritual of being an armchair referee?
