For some a religious holiday, for other&#8217;s it&#8217;s just an occasion to spend more time with the extended family. However you decide to celebrate, there&#8217;s bound to be a lot of food and we&#8217;re here to help highlighting a few delicious meals that are perfect to snack on or something for in-between.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mushroom Bravas<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/mushroom-biltong-recipe-samfa\/\"><strong>Mushroom Biltong<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/baby-button-mushroom-stuffed-avocados-recipe-samfa\/\"><strong>Baby Button Mushroom Stuffed Avocados<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Mushroom Bravas Recipe<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500g white button mushrooms<\/li>\n<li>500g potatoes<\/li>\n<li>Neutral oil for deep-frying<\/li>\n<li>Fine sea salt<\/li>\n<li>Handful fresh parsley, chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>For the sauce:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 x 400g tin italian crushed tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp sherry vinegar<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 clove garlic, grated<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp paprika<\/li>\n<li>1-2 tsp Sriracha<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>To make the sauce:<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span>Place all the sauce ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to the boil. Allow to simmer for 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from the heat and set aside for serving.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Peel and dice the potatoes into 2 cm cubes.<\/li>\n<li>Pre Cook the potatoes in a pot of boiling water until just tender. Drain.<\/li>\n<li>Heat neutral oil over medium-high heat until a thermometer reads 200\u00b0C. Transfer potatoes to oil in batches and cook, until golden brown. Using a slotted spoon, transfer potatoes onto paper towel and sprinkle with fine sea salt.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the button mushrooms into quarters and repeat the frying process until they are golden brown. Drain on paper towel and sprinkle with salt while still hot.<\/li>\n<li>Toss the mushrooms and potatoes together with the chopped parsley.<\/li>\n<li>Pile onto plates and serve with plenty of spicy sauce for dipping.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Gin Pairing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50ml Inverroche Classic Gin<\/li>\n<li>Dried Chillies<\/li>\n<li>150ml tonic water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fill desired glass with ice and add 2-3 dried chillies.
