They are all easy to make, affordable and consist of essential ingredients, which make them ideal for cooking during the lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>Try these delicious heart-healthy treats that\u2019s sure to warm mom\u2019s heart this Sunday:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/cooking-from-the-heart-chocolate-cake\/\"><strong>Chocolate Cake<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/cooking-from-the-heart-milk-tart\/\"><strong>Milk Tart<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/cooking-from-the-heart-apple-pudding\/\"><strong>Apple Pudding<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/cooking-from-the-heart-baked-sticky-pudding-recipe\/\"><strong>Baked Sticky Pudding<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Apple Pudding Recipe<\/h3>\n<p>Apples and cinnamon are comforting flavours. Swop your custard or ice cream for plain low-fat yoghurt.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 medium Granny Smith apples, seeds removed and cut in wedges<\/li>\n<li>1 cinnamon stick<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup (60 ml) sugar<\/li>\n<li>3 eggs, beaten<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp (45 ml) sunflower oil<\/li>\n<li>\u00be cup (180 ml) low-fat or fat-free milk<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup (125 ml) plain low-fat yoghurt<\/li>\n<li>1 cup (250 ml) cake flour<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup (125 ml) whole-wheat flour<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp (10 ml) baking powder<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp (10 ml) ground cinnamon Syrup<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup (125 ml) low-fat or fat-free milk<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup (125 ml) water<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup (60 ml) sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 cinnamon stick optional<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Method<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Place apples with 2 tbsp of water and the cinnamon in a pot. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes or until just tender, but not mushy.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven to 180 \u00b0C. Beat sugar and eggs until well blended. Add oil, milk and yoghurt and mix well.<\/li>\n<li>Combine the flours, baking powder and half the cinnamon in a mixing bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Beat liquid into the flour mixture to form a smooth batter.<\/li>\n<li>Spoon apples into an oven dish and pour batter on top.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked.<\/li>\n<li>Syrup: Meanwhile, place all the ingredients in a small pot and stir over a low heat.<\/li>\n<li>Simmer for a few minutes or until slightly thickened.<\/li>\n<li>Prick warm pudding with a fork or skewer and pour syrup over. Sprinkle with the rest of the ground cinnamon. Serve warm with plain low-fat or fat-free yoghurt.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Tip<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Make the pudding with fresh pears as above.
