{"id":284,"date":"2014-06-06T11:52:37","date_gmt":"2014-06-06T09:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/?p=284"},"modified":"2020-04-16T17:27:23","modified_gmt":"2020-04-16T15:27:23","slug":"braai-fathers-day-sunnyside-park-hotel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/braai-fathers-day-sunnyside-park-hotel\/","title":{"rendered":"Braai for Father\u2019s Day at Sunnyside Park Hotel"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Sunnyside Park Hotel in Parktown, Johannesburg is planning a sumptuous braai menu for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/fathers-day-johannesburg\/\">Father\u2019s Day<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/tag\/sunday\/\">Sunday<\/a> 15 June, \u201cbecause that\u2019s what dad\u2019s like!\u201d\u00a0 So says General Manager Chris Schutte, who is himself a father of three young children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFather\u2019s Day is all about spending time with the family and eating your favourite food,\u201d says Schutte. \u201cWe\u2019re a proudly South African hotel, and this is a great way to celebrate the occasion because dad won\u2019t be doing all the work on the braai, and mom won\u2019t be doing all the work in the kitchen!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/tag\/buffet-restaurants-johannesburg\/\">buffet<\/a> style menu was dreamed up by new head chef Doctor Hlongwane, who is also a father and will be braaing for the guests.\u00a0 He has planned a feast of freshly made salads, pat\u00e9s and cold meat cuts, soup with various homemade breads, and side dishes including jacket potatoes with sour cream and rocket pesto, and grilled mielies on the cob to accompany braaied lamb chops, fish, sirloin, chicken and pork cutlets and, of course, boerewors!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Outdoor-deck-low-res.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-285\" src=\"http:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Outdoor-deck-low-res.jpg\" alt=\"Outdoor deck low res\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Outdoor-deck-low-res.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.food-blog.co.za\/joburg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Outdoor-deck-low-res-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If dad has a sweet tooth, he\u2019ll be able to indulge a vast array of desserts, including lime pies, chocolate brownies, cheese cakes, and lamingtons and fruit salad. Or he can end his meal with a cheese platter.\u00a0The Father\u2019s Day lunch will be served on the outdoor deck (weather permitting), and includes a surprise gift for dad. There\u2019ll be a jumping castle in the garden for kiddies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cost is R225 for adults and R120 for children under 12. Booking is essential.
