Avocados fit perfectly, turning even the simplest dish into something special.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They\u2019re not just delicious, they\u2019re also packed with health benefits. Avos are rich in good fats, fibre, vitamin K and biotin, while being cholesterol- and sodium-free. These healthy fats can support brain health, reduce inflammation and even help boost mood.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Avocados are also versatile and on trend, appearing in viral recipes like the gluten-free avo wrap, as well as creative dishes such as pickled avo, avo tiramisu and fruity avo pesto.<\/p>\n<p>With a growing focus on local, whole and functional foods, avocados tick all the boxes. They\u2019re locally grown, nutritious, incredibly versatile and perfect for everything from everyday meals to braais.\u00a0<strong>In short, avo season means one thing: delicious, healthy happiness is officially in season. \ud83e\udd51<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Pickled Avo Recipe<\/h3>\n<p>Makes 1 L jar<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation time:<\/strong> 15 minutes + refrigeration<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooking time: <\/strong>5 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>250 ml (1 cup) apple cider vinegar<\/li>\n<li>250 ml (1 cup) water<\/li>\n<li>3 garlic cloves, peeled<\/li>\n<li>10 ml (2 tsp) yellow mustard seeds<\/li>\n<li>5 ml (\u00bd tsp) dried chilli flakes<\/li>\n<li>15 ml (1 tbsp) salt<\/li>\n<li>45 ml (3 tbsp) honey<\/li>\n<li>2 firm avocados, peeled and stoned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Bring the vinegar, water, garlic, mustard, chilli and salt to a boil in a small saucepan on high. Take off the heat and stir in the honey until dissolved. Set aside to cool to room temperature.<\/li>\n<li>Cut each avocado into 8 wedges. Place in a sterilised 1 L jar. Pour over the cooled pickling liquid.
