The Tullamore distillery, established in 1829, produces pure pot still whiskey using a triple distillation process. During Daniel E Williams\u2019 times, the 11 warehouses alone covered nearly 5 acres and contained gallons of whiskey \u2013 it was truly a massive, and certainly thrilling, distilling operation.<\/p>\n
Speaking of gallons, Tullamore D.E.W. uses three cask varieties in maturation: traditional, ex-bourbon and sherry casks. This unique ageing process yields rich colour and distinctive flavour; further enhancing its complexity and character.<\/p>\n
A slightly sweet combination bringing out the rich nutty tones of Tullamore D.E.W is the 5 Acres cocktail, a very simple blend containing dry vermouth, ruby port, chocolate bitters and aromatic bitters. Tullamore D.E.W. suggests, if you’re feeling fancy and daring, try it in a martini glass and garnish with an orange twist and cherry \u2013 it won’t change the taste but it sure will look good.<\/p>\n
