Celebrated annually on the 27th<\/sup>\u00a0of July, Monkey Shoulder has crafted the Blazing Monkey Cocktail to commemorate National Scotch Day. It’s a day when Monkey Shoulder wants to recognise the craft that goes into the creation of aged whisky distilled from malted barley.<\/p>\n

In appreciating whisky-making heritage, they would like to acknowledge the distillery workers who used to shovel tonnes of malting barley hour after hour for long shifts. Painstaking work that often led to workers’ arms hanging down, a bit like a chimpanzee’s, a temporary affliction\u00a0termed ‘monkey shoulder’. The condition no longer exists, but Monkey Shoulder Scotch Whisky honours tradition by being one of the few distilleries in Scotland that still floor malt.<\/p>\n
