Win a Dinner worth R1,200 at The new Pop-Up Restaurant at Villa 47

The Pop-Up, A seasonal dining experience on the 2nd floor of Villa 47.

From homemade pastas and sorbets to crying tiger fillets, to a tom yum sea bass, tagliolini draped prawn skewers and more. Foodies can expect a modest selection of dishes showcasing Andrea’s rooted southern Italian style of cooking with hints of spice and citrus from the east.

Launching the pop-up this season is Italian Chef, Andrea Cirrone.

The open plan kitchen offers guests a chance to interact with and observe Andrea and his team in action. The space is intimate yet casual and lends itself to the perfect date night or a celebratory dinner with friends and family.

Undoubtedly, Andrea’s respect and passion for food began at home. He attributes his appreciation for a variety of flavours to his parents, who never allowed him to be a fussy eater.

Although raised in Milan, their family meals greatly represented a combination of his parents southern Italian roots, Puglia and Sicily.

After arriving in South Africa on a tourist visa to visit his brother, it didn’t take much time for Andrea to realise he wanted to stay. With not word of English, he enquired at a Sicilian restaurant in Camps Bay, Il Cappero. His talent and passion for the kitchen was instantly recognised and under close guidance and training from the owner/chef, Andrea was promoted to Sous Chef.

His next venture led him to take a head chef position at Piazza Italia in Park Road, Kloof Street. It didn’t take long before Andrea was scooped up by Villa 47. Now in his third season at Villa 47, Andrea has worked under the mentorship of renowned local favourite, Chef Clayton Belle and Michelin star Chefs  Michelangelo D Oria and Theo Penati.
