Weekend Breakfasts at Café Honeybun

Café Honeybun has long been one of my favourite breakfast spots in Cape Town for a leisurely Saturday or Sunday morning. Along with the delicious food and excellent coffee at Café Honeybun, you also get to experience a quieter side of Observatory as the neighbourhood starts to wake up with people going about their weekend.

As you sit outside at Café Honeybun, you slowly get to see Obs becoming a little busier with residents doing their groceries, walking into fashion boutiques, exploring the book shop or visiting one of the many thrift stores. For me, it’s always a fun way to start the weekend. First stop is Café Honeybun to fill up on delicious food & much-needed caffeine, before walking down the Main Road to explore the various little shops.

Take your time, because there is really so much to explore.

But let’s talk food!

What’s on offer at Café Honeybun for Breakfast!

Eggs Benedict

The king of all breakfasts. And this one pulls out all the stops so you don’t feel hungry after you are done. Crispy bacon and a delicious bearnaise sauce make me come back for the Eggs Benedict whenever I visit Café Honeybun. It’s a portion of note with flavour to match to leave you satisfied and ready for the rest of the day.

Scrambled Eggs & Croissant

Sometimes you’re just looking for something simple and the fluffy croissant with scrambled eggs, bacon and tomatoes does just the trick. Perfectly cooked scrambled eggs always put a smile on my face – it’s harder to pull off than you might think.

Something Sweet

If you are looking for something sweet, Café Honeybun has got you covered as well. With one of the best French toasts in Cape Town that comes with slices of banana and syrup, while Waffles with ice-cream & berries is also another delicious option. Delicious!

Café Honeybun has been a long-time favourite of mine with its charm and character that fits right into the neighbourhood. The cafe offers good honest food with excellent coffee to match. Walking along the main road is always on the cards after breakfast and you’ll find many hidden gems that always makes for a fantastic weekend outing.

Join them this weekend!

P.S.: They are open from 8 am on weekends (close at 4pm) and open from 7:30 am on week days (close at 5pm).
