Under: Europe’s first Underwater Restaurant

A bucket list item? How about sharing a meal with our wonderful sea life!

Cape Town boasts the most beautiful beaches, sea life and restaurants and it would be a magical experience to be in a restaurant underwater while enjoying wonderful food and looking at exotic fish!

Well if you take a trip to Baaly any time soon on the southern tip of Norway, you will discover Under, the world’s largest underwater restaurant. Think aquarium, but one that gives you a chance at a full dining experience.

The 40 seater restaurant is five meters into the wild North Sea water, the structure clings to the coast’s rocks like the hull of an upturned shipwreck.

The 34-metre long concrete structure is simple and its solid design draw diners down into a submarine world of tranquillity beneath the waves. With the walls a metre-and-a-half thick and slightly curved, the building is designed to withstand the force of crashing waves.

The one thing about South Africans is that we love beautiful spaces, mix that in with nature and the sea, then you have got a winner!

So if you want to share your next meal with a stingray, or see mussels and barnacles clinging to the outside of your eatery, then go Under, it will be the perfect experience!
