Two Grande Provence wines listed in 2016 Sommeliers Selection

Grande Provence has been singled out as a top South African wine producer once again this year!

Grande Provence Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was selected in the Fresh/Crunchy Whites category, and the Chardonnay 2014 made the cut for Elegant/Classy Whites. Last year the 2013 Chardonnay was included in the Full/Rich category for white wines by the glass.

Judged entirely by a group of respected local sommeliers who are all members of the South African Sommeliers Association (SASA), the categories for the competition are structured like a wine list in a restaurant. The listed wines all carry the Sommeliers Selection seal of approval.

The Winning Wines

A gold medallist at the 2016 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, the zesty Grande Provence Sauvignon Blanc 2015 expresses its origins from selected cool climate vineyards in Durbanville. Ripe fig and abundant fruit are well balanced on the palate by racy acidity ending in a long, lingering finish. This refreshing wine is eminently drinkable on its own or as a food wine with vegetarian dishes, chicken salads, lightly seasoned shell-on prawns, fresh crab or grilled sea bass.

GP Sauvignon Blanc

The Grande Provence Chardonnay 2014 reveals citrus, almonds and peaches on the nose and palate. Superb wood integration lends a luxurious, lingering finish. The wine pairs elegantly with smoked chicken and creamy seafood dishes.

GP Chardonnay 2014

The Grande Provence Sauvignon Blanc 2015 sells for R105, and the Grande Provence Chardonnay 2014 for R150 at the Tasting Room. Both wines can be found at leading wine shops and fine dining restaurants. For added convenience, purchase them online from www.grandeprovence.co.za.

P.S.: Purchases of 12 bottles or more qualify for free delivery anywhere in South Africa!
