Founded in 1999, family-owned The Drift Farm is situated amongst the majestic mountains of the Overberg Highlands. The farm grows all its grapes on site and specialises in three types of wine – a single vineyard Rosé, a single vineyard Pinot Noir, and a blended red wine that comes from various varieties and vineyard sites on the farm. The Drift Farm is one of the founding members of the Premium Independent Wineries of South Africa (PIWOSA), a collective of small yield winemakers working together to promote their hand crafted vintages to international markets.

On the menu

Food and wine aficionados can look forward to starting their evening in Azure with a glass of The Drift Farm’s ‘The Year of the Rooster’ Rosé on arrival. The pairing will begin in earnest with a serving of Farmed Dusky Kob with rice noodles, fermented soy bean, king oyster mushroom and tentsuyu ginger, matched perfectly with a glass of Flagstone Chardonnay. Chef Pretorius will then present Organic Rabbit – roast saddle, braised ragu, creamed corn polenta, baby carrots, gremolata, and liquorice juice, paired with The Drift Farm’s ‘The Heartbreak Grape’ Pinot Noir.

For the main course guests can enjoy Beef Short Rib in a barbeque glaze and fynbos jus, with smoked potato puree, young winter vegetables and hydrated prunes. This dish will be served with The Drift Farm’s ‘Gift Horse Barbera’. As the evening concludes, the Gianduja Mousse brings a sweet taste of blood orange sorbet, salted peanut cake, toasted marshmallow, chai custard and caramel to the table, beautifully matched with La Báscula Costa Diva Moscatel 2012. A selection of Petit Fours presented with tea or coffee round off the gourmet experience.
