Founded by My Kitchen Rules South Africa contestants OG & G, The Hot Skillet opened its doors to the public in 2018 following their participation in the first season of MKRSA where they took the imaginations of the South African public by storm as fan favourites.

Soon after they came back from the show, the fans wanted nothing more but to taste their food. OG and G then decided to open a restaurant which ran successfully until their unfortunate closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We are pleased to be able to do what we love again, and are very excited to be hosting our guests at our Pop-up restaurant at the newly built Makers Landing. This opportunity allows us to present a culinary experience like no other; and we want to share a culinary experience that highlights where we grew up and to showcase the richness of South African cuisine. – said co-owner Chef G.

Makers Landing is a new food community opened last year at the V&A Waterfront where connections are formed and positive change is initiated – one plate at a time.

This is where visitors can come together to eat, to make, to learn and to share.

“Here we share what we know, and we learn what we don’t”. The Hot Skillet plays with flavour, dares to dream and cooks up the world they want to live in. One can indulge their inner foodie and discover worlds that we never knew existed. The tables are made bigger, by breaking down boundaries and connecting with everyone through the magic of local food and it’s diversity.

The table is extended to anyone who has a food story to tell or who simply delights in the South African food journey. There is a seat for everyone. Come and join and enjoy.
