Smashing it at RocoMamas at The Harrington

Are you looking for a really good time?

I’ve never been to RocoMamas until recently. Of course, I’ve seen their marketing on social media but they’ve always been quite aggressive with their communication style and that’s never really spoken to me. But when I joined RocoMamas at The Harrington last month, I was pleasantly surprised that we actually did have something in common: Passion for really good burgers.

We were welcomed by the most friendly and helpful staff who guided us through the entire menu, gave us recommendations and made us feel very much at home. From start to finish, we had a fantastic time at RocoMamas at The Harrington and this won’t be the first and last time you see me. I’ll be coming back for sure.

Bombs

Let’s start with the bombs that we ordered to start. You can order six for only R40 which you can mix and match as you like. We got them all: two of the chilli cheese, feta and jalopeno bombs; all of which were really really nice. I preferred the chilli and jalopeno ones a little more as I like the little extra kick.

The Burger Menu at RocoMamas at The Harrington

You can customise everything. Pick a burger you like and exchange beef for chicken. Or maybe you like the toppings but don’t eat meat. That’s okay too, as you can choose a veggie patty instead. Feeling extra hungry, double up and you’ll have your cravings satisfied. If there is nothing to your liking, you can start from scratch and make your own #smashburger instead.

For our main meal, we enjoyed one of the unique #smashburgers while also trying one of the limited edition burgers from an extensive menu that had us drooling. Along with our burgers, we ordered a side portion of cheesy chilli fries that have quite the punch as well as smoky bacon fries. Both were delicious and something different to the usual offering you get everywhere.

Mushroom Swizz

With Emmenthal cheese, sauteed mushrooms and the juiciest piece of chicken I enjoyed on a burger for a very long time, the Mushroom Swizz was an absolute hit.

Galactic NY

This one came with two juicy beef patties, butter lettuce, a delicious sauce, red onions, lots of cheese and tomato. The black buns gives a really cool effect, but doesn’t add much to the taste in my opinion.

I like eating burgers with my hands but there are times when chefs just add too much sauce or pack the burger with too many ingredients. You take one bite and everything falls apart from underneath. To my delight, this wasn’t the case at RocoMamas at all. Perfection to allow us to smash these burgers like they are supposed to be enjoyed.

Looking at the prices, RocoMamas also doesn’t break the bank. R40 for six bombs, the Mushroom Swizz is between R69 – R85 depending on how hungry you are, while the Galactic NY goes for R100. That’s not bad at all for what you are getting.

With an extensive menu that you can customise to your own preferences, delicious burgers, friendly staff and good value for money, I really enjoyed the entire experience at RocoMamas. If you’ve never been like me, maybe it’s time to give RocoMamas at The Harrington a try!
