Situated in the beautiful Stellenbosch valley- the epitome of luscious wine country – is Jordan Wine Estate. While wine farms are a dime a dozen, this one is extra special and we have six reasons why.

1. Staycation in the Cape Winelands

They have amazing accommodations – you get to wake up in the vineyards. Owners Gary and Kathy Jordan launched The Luxury Suites at Jordan in 2015. With all the comforts of home such as free wi-fi, Nespresso coffee machine and room safe, it also boasts and outdoor veranda to put your feet up and unwind in peace and tranquillity. From May to September, enjoy a 1 night stay, a five-course dinner at the restaurant, a bottle of wine in your room and breakfast at the Bakery.

2. Take to the hills and enjoy endless single track

You can do the trail thing – mountain biking and trail running is now all the rage, isn’t it? At Jordan, you can take to the Bottelary Mountain Bike route for R50 per day permit. id you know that on any given day, if you’ve got good eyes, you can spot the beautiful Cape Dwarf Chameleon, which according to African folklore is believed to have magical powers?

3. The Bakery at Jordan

They have an amazing bakery with yummy goodies – the Bakery at Jordan is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. The menu changes seasonally so it’s always a surprise. What’s better than freshly baked goods and aromatic coffee?

4. Enjoy a 360° tour of the estate with panoramic views

You get to see incredible views – take a tour of the vineyards in a safari-style Land Rover and breathe in the views of False Bay and Table Bay and all the beautiful fauna and flora of the winelands. Get a taste of the beautiful bouquets this ground produces by enjoying a Jordan Wine tasting – they were the South African Producer of the Year in 2014, after all.

5. Fine dining with breath-taking views

Dine it fine – The Restaurant at Jordan has been in the top 20 SA restaurants since they opened in 2009. Besides the finest seasonal cheeses at their walk-in cheese room, they also have delectable desserts such as the poppy seed soufflé, as well as two five-course food and wine pairings for the price of one or a main meal and glass of wine for only R200 per person.

6. Relax

You can just unwind – Jordan is off the grid, so they aren’t affected by loadshedding and have deep underwater reserves so they will never run out. Take in the natural surroundings and do whatever you like, whether it be sleep, eat, cycle, drink lots of wine without having to go very far at all. Enjoy a cheese and charcuterie platter on the terrace, to accompany your wine tasting.
