Richard Duckitt appointed as the head winemaker at Bellingham

Richard Duckitt has been appointed as head winemaker at Bellingham with immediate effect.

Richard grew up on a farm in the Darling district, and applies his inherent passion and knowledge of terroir and agriculture to his daily winemaking practice. Elsenburg-trained, he began his journey as a winemaker in the Western Cape and went on to gain valuable experience during two harvests in California and one in Bordeaux. He acquired a taste for excellence, and passion for the scientific and creative processes throughout his 9 vintage experiences at Franschhoek Cellars.

Away from the cellar, Richard extends his love for learning and experimentation in his kitchen where he enjoys cooking and impressing his wife with innovative dishes!

He relishes the new challenge beckoning at Bellingham where the “Bernard Series” is already a highly acclaimed and a very successful premium range and the new “Homestead” range is gaining excellent traction in the International market.:

I look forward to becoming an integral part of the Bellingham brand that is so steeped in history and is still blazing the trail in the Cape wine industry to this day.

Standing on the shoulders of many respected and influential wine personalities who have shaped the success of Bellingham, Richard is eager to throw his unique talents behind this famous brand loved and respected by so many wine enthusiasts, and take it to even greater heights.
