Raith Gourmet by Night

Raith Gourmet, is a popular and well know bakery, deli and delicatessen, with two locations, one can be found in Cape Town, in Gardens, at the foot of Table Mountain, with a stunning sister branch in beautiful High Constantia, also with a gorgeous mountainous backdrop.

Traditionally, Raith was a daytime venue, offering exquisite traditional German food as well as produce, pastries, cakes, preserves and European style meat. Now, Raith Gourmet has become so popular, it has become a necessity to invite the patrons along for evening meals.

The new stunning evening menu has delicious choices for one to make, and like every good meal, begins with the perfect starter. With options such as fine steak tartar, served with chopped onions, capers, chilli and lemon zest, topped with a quail egg and finished off with fresh baked bread or the homemade Norwegian gravadlax, sprinkled with pickled beetroot and mushrooms with horseradish cream and fresh dill, it is easy to talk yourself into a real treat and going for more than one course.

The mains on offer at Raith Gourmet for an evening meal, are equally stunning and a perfect follow on from your delectable choice of starter. With Chris’ famous cheese fondue with fresh bread, chorizo, broccoli and homemade pickled onions, or the traditional cheesy emmental spätzle topped with crispy onion rings and served with a side salad of lettuce, seeds and cherry tomatoes. Another delicious main option is The Happy German – traditionally slow cooked German beef stuffed with onion, bacon, and gherkin, served on a herb mashed potato with a red wine, tomato sauce.

Also on the menu is the old favorite – the faithful steak. Choose either rump, sirloin or fillet, with a variety of flavour options from fresh herb and garlic butter, the spicy chilli and chive butter or the exotic mushroom, black pepper and parsley sauce, with options of herb mash, paprika fries or a side of crisp salad greens.

Finish off your perfect evening meal with an indulgent dessert like Belgian chocolate baked mousse or the traditional warm kaiserschmarrn served with vanilla bean ice cream and apple sauce. Not sure exactly what kaiserschmarrn is? It is an indulgent must have at the end of a German meal. Come to Raith Gourmet for your evening meal, and give it a try.
