Having long celebrated the poetic pairing of Shiraz and charcuterie with their annual Shiraz & Charcuterie Festival in Franschhoek, Anthonij Rupert Estate have introduced a ‘Shiraz & Charcuterie Pairing’, which will be presented in the comfort of the Terra del Capo Tasting Room.
This bespoke offering is the newest addition to their other much-loved pairings, namely the Italian Cheese & Wine Pairing and the L’Ormarins Methodé Cap Classique & Nougat Pairing.
The salty, aromatic flavours and sweet, rich fattiness present in charcuterie make it the perfect partner for the typically bright acidity, bold fruitiness and spiciness of Shiraz wines. This tasting experience aims to highlight how the two complement each other in a very natural way.
Three of the estate’s Shiraz wines, respectively from the popular Protea, terroir-driven Cape of Good Hope and flagship Anthonij Rupert ranges, will be accompanied by three expertly-sourced Italian charcuteries – Napoli salami, Coppa and Parma ham.
Available from Tuesday to Sunday at a cost of R120 per person. Make sure to plan in advance as the estate operates on a ‘By Appointment Only’ basis.
