Every post I write about La Mouette, I have a little shpiel about how they work with the StreetSmart charity at the bottom. While I always thought that it was great that they were involved, I never thought much of it. BUT I WAS WRONG. Because La Mouette is the top StreetSmart Contributor.
Thanks to their incredible customers, La Mouette raised a whopping R73,095 just R5 at a time.
“We are humbled and honoured by the overwhelming support we’ve received from our patrons to be able to make a contribution to a cause we believe in this much. StreetSmart has become a part of our daily routine and is by far our favourite EFT of the month. It is our wish for 2016 that all restaurants support them.” Mari Vigar, co-owner of La Mouette.
Three Cape Town and two Johannesburg restaurants took the Top 5 StreetSmart South Africa contributing restaurants, helping to raise over a R1 million in 2015. Every cent goes to organisations supporting vulnerable kids through education, skills training and family reunification, in order to give them a chance for a normal life and to be reintegrated into society.

So next time you see a StreetSmart mention on your bill, don;t think to yourself, “arghh, this won;t make a difference”, because every rand counts to help change the lives of those who need it most.
