Just in time for summer, la Belle Bistro & Bakery has opened its third set of doors in Mouille Point. The first venue opened at the Alphen Hotel in Constantia four years ago and the second opened in Camps Bay last year.
Comfy yet charming, la Belle will indulge you with freshly baked quiches, gourmet burgers, cupcakes, organic salads and raw juices. Whether it’s breakfast, a light lunch or a glass of wine you’re looking for, la Belle is a dream. The service, just like the ambience, is warm, friendly and welcoming.
Looking at the menu, I’m a huge fan of smaller, but refined choices, and this is exactly the case at la Belle Bistro & Bakery. Each dish sounding more delicious than the next.
Served in a creamy garlic and white wine sauce with crusty bread, the mussels were centre stage. Full of the flavour of the sea, the sauce provided a gentle garlic undertone, which hit the spot in all the right places.
Oozing with flavour and cooked to perfection, the pork belly was incredible. Rich and succulent, it wasn’t exactly a summer dish, but I didn’t care. I loved every bite of it. The light sweetcorn fritters, refreshing apple sauce and peas, added a lovely balance of sweet and sour and gave a great variety of consistency.
We tried a sharing plate, which consisted of cheesecake (along with a gluten-free option), carrot cake, a caramel tart, red velvet cupcakes and lemon meringue. To be honest, I was so full, I only had a few tasters – the cheesecake and carrot cake really stood out.
la Belle has friendly staff, a varied menu, and produce delicious meals. Whether you’re just popping in for a nibble or going all-in for something like the pork belly, you’re in for a very good time.
