Since Alex was born he has had a passion and interest for food, entertainment and hospitality.
Born in South Africa and raised in Portugal and Macau, Alex soon became passionate about unique flavors and methods of cooking.
Having studied in Macau and Australia this is where is passion came to life, with a focus on Australian Fusion Cuisine and influences from South Africa, Portugal, Asia (Macau, Hong Kong) and Australia. His company – Eighty8’S – has been bringing loads of flavor, entertainment and style as part of his food truck business to locals across Joburg.
He’s now expanding, launching a brand-new concept with a dine-at-home experience in the Home of Chef Alex Torrao himself.
- There is no menu. Just 8 plates, 8 seats and one social table where all guests gather to join an incredible, exclusive experience like no other.
Expect an unpretentious and intimate dinner evening as Alex welcomes a limited number of guests to his home with an ever-changing menu of elevated street & home food; food that is good, experiential, exclusive and exquisite.
