Experience the very best in Italian fine dining with Chef Alfonso Caputo at Vino in Piazza

If you really, really love Italian fine dining, then this weekend there is the perfect tailor-made experience just for you.

One of  Italy’s most renowned chefs, Naples’ Michelin star-rated chef Alfonso Caputo, will host an exclusive fine dining experience at Montecasino this weekend as part of the ‘Vino In Piazza – Wines of Italy’ event in Johannesburg’s own Tuscan piece of Italia.

Chef Caputo – famous for his typically Napolitana fish-based cuisine – will host a priceless culinary experience of authentic Italian food and wine, allowing Italian food lovers the rare opportunity to dissect the cooking techniques and style of the revered chef.

Only 30 seats per sitting will be available for Chef Caputo’s two evenings of intimate and exclusive fine dining experiences from 7pm to 9pm this Friday and Saturday, which will be paired with some of Italy’s finest wines, its best prosecco and famous Lavazza coffee.

It will be a sophisticated and very high-level evening of exquisite Italian cuisine over four courses prepared by Chef Caputo, partnered by renowned Italian chefs based in South Africa and students from the South African Chefs Association.

Costs for this unforgettable fine dining experience is R1,250 per person.

All proceeds from this event will go towards sending 2 deserving trainee Chefs to Italy on a week-long authentic culinary experience, topped with a day in Torino at the Lavazza innovation hub.

This initiative is part of the International Week of Italian Cuisine (Settimana della Cucina Italiana) celebrated around the world by Italian Government representatives; key to this year’s mandate was the transfer of skills in the art of Italian cuisine as well as on the science & taste of wine.

Together with Chef Caputo, the Festival will also enjoy 6 wine-pairing session with renowned Italian Chefs based in South Africa and one Scientific Workshop on Wine & wine making hosted by the Italian embassy called ‘A Sip of Science’ .

Food kiosk selling everything that is authentic Italian, from Nutella pancakes to Prosciutto and salame; San Pellegrino water & juices, Polli vegetable preserves & delicious Grana Padano; not forgetting the Kinder Play Area for children

General access tickets for Vino In Piazza is R160, which  includes access to the wine festival; 20 wine tasting vouchers, a wine tasting glass, one Lavazza coffee voucher & a  wine-paring session  voucher (on a first come first serve basis).  R20 for the Kinder Play Area (age 3-11) with professional child minders.
