Jakes Restaurant & Bar takes on new Look and Feel!

Jakes Restaurant and Bar recently unveiled their look at their Nip & Tuck Reveal Party, attended by more than 200 locals and celebs alike. Always a step ahead of the rest with design and décor, Jakes in the Village at Steenberg Village Shopping Centre, Cape Town, has taken things to an entirely new level. Inspired by his recent travels overseas, owner David Ellis has invested just under R1million into the new-look Restaurant and bar, transforming it into something one would expect in chic’est New York. David has imbued the venue with a truly international, contemporary feel, marrying their out-of-this-world meals with the gorgeous décor.

The main reason for the revamp was to create a new look and vibe in a suburban restaurant, with the look and feel of any big city styled restaurant. It has a modern and vintage theme with elements of funky SteamPunk – using metal, wood and glass splashed with modern colours give it just that feel. It’s all about the atmosphere! In doing the revamp we have opened up the enclosed smoking bar, which has lost all of the wasted entrance hall and passage way space, allowing the restaurant to be more open plan and free flowing.

Some of the new attractions include the 5cents floor piece and the stencilled sheet metal artwork at the entrance, backlit by 1000’s of LED lights. Along with exposed wiring light pieces, featuring vintage light bulbs; artworks from Carmen Ziervogel and the SteamPunk Genre, wood and glass; the new look works well to allow you to feel comfortable whilst at the same time feeling completely trendy.
